One in 5 attorneys have an alcohol or substance abuse problem. Thus, attorneys have an ethical imperative to understand how the abuse begins, what it means to the practice and the legal responsibilities to their client.
This course will address how the abuse begins, particularly in the legal profession. The attendees will learn ways to spot the abuse, and plan interventions to address the issue. Without this knowledge, the practice, clients, and families of attorneys are powerless to create significant help, or to recognize their own abuse issues.
This CLE will consist of one two-hour session, with a 10 minute break in the middle. The session leader will combine research and practical experience to increase the understanding of recognition and intervention on alcohol and substance abuse.
