Competent Communication
People in the legal profession are typically adept eloquent speakers. However, being an eloquent speaker does not equate to communication competence. Communication competence happens when both or all parties of the session leave with a joint understanding of the people and conversation that occurred. This course identifies communication competence gaps that can endanger your effectiveness with clients.
This CLE will consist of one two-hour session. The session leader will combine research and practical experience to increase the skills of the individuals by understanding how they are misunderstood and how they can improve relationships with clients through co-created understanding. Experiential “mock” conversations provide the attendees with insights into their strengths and areas of growth in their communication style. Then, apply those insights to an action plan for their return to their practice.
